Mulhuddart Sport Taekwon-Do Club is delighted to announce the arrival of our newest member. Cara Catryce O'Donoghue was born on Feb 11th at 9.53pm, weighing in at 6lb 6oz (2.9kg). Cara is looking forward to her first visit to the club to meet everyone in the near future. Sir and Lynnsie would like to thank everyone for their kind messages and well wishes for baby Cara. ITF Taekwon-Do Master Jerzy Jedut VII Dan was in Ireland to conduct ITF Taekwon-Do classes on February 9th & 10th. Master Jedut visited our club which was a big honour for us. During his visit Master Jedut observed the younger juniors training program and then introduced some exercises to the group. After that he led the older juniors through a class for 1 hour 30 mins. Master Jedut then conducted 9 hours advanced training for 60 ITA senior students on Sat & Sun. |
The 2007 winter colour belt kup testing took place on Saturday 15th December 2007. 41 candidates tested for grades ranging from yellow tag to red belt. 6 people were promoted to Yellow Tag (9th Kup), 11 people were promoted to Yellow Belt (8th Kup), 12 people were promoted to Green Tag (7th Kup), 11 people were promoted to Green Belt (6th Kup) and 1 person was promoted to Red Belt (2nd Kup). |
Mulhuddart Sport Taekwon-Do Club had a strong performance in the 2007 Irish Cup. The club was represented by 48 competitors and finished in joint second place with Rivervalley TKD both on an impressive 70 points. The individual results were 11 Gold, 15 Silver and 7 Bronze. The club also took Silver in Male Team Sparring and Bronze in Male Team Pattern. |
Rivervalley Taekwon-Do hosted an invitational ITF Taekwon-Do Fight Night on Saturday 22 September 2007. There were 20 bouts featuring ITF European and World Champions, including; Feilix Kelly, Hayden Devoy, Philip McCauliffe, Lyndsey Conway and Soyfur Rahman. Mulhuddart Sport Taekwon-Do Club was represented by Sylwek Zalewski and Lukasz Bazyluk. The event was a major success with top club fighters participating from Ireland, England and Scotland. There were more than 300 spectators, and great production including pyrotechnics which created a great atmosphere. |
ITA Summer Black Belt Testing 2007 was held in Shannon Leisure Centre on Sunday 15th July. The testing panel was; Mr. Wheatley, Mr. O'Mahoney, Mr. O'Neill, Mr. Buckley, and Mr. Murphy. In total 14 candidates applied for the ITA preliminary testing in June where 11 qualified to test at the main grading on 15th July. At the main testing 8 candidates were successfully promoted. The ITA testing process is rigorous and covers the full ITF Taekwon-do syllabus the successful candidates have earned and deserve their respective Dan grades. Congratulations to Mr. Marcin Oworuszko on his promotion to III Dan and to Mr. Lukasz Bazyluk on his promotion to I Dan Black Belt. |
Mulhuddart Sport Taekwon-Do club was pleased to welcome a visitor from Czech Republic for training during July. Lucie Sadkova was visiting Ireland to study English and we are pleased that she also joined us for training. We are also very pleased to welcome Justyne Bazyluk as a new member of our club. Mulhuddart Sport Taekwon-Do Club has recently launched a new online photo album. This means that members can upload their own photographs directly to the online photo album. We have added some pictures from various events and look forward to receiving many more. |
The Irish Taekwon-Do Association Summer Black Belt Testing will take place in Shannon Leisure Centre on Sunday 15th July. We would like to wish good luck to the 10 candidates who successfully qualified at the Preliminary Black Belt Testing which was hosted for the first time by Mulhuddart Sport Taekwon-Do Club. The Black Belt Testing will be conducted by; Mr. Kenneth Wheatley VI Dan, Mr. Adrian O'Mahoney, Mr. Henry O'Neill V Dan, Mr. Mark Buckley V Dan and Mr. Michael Murphy V Dan. |
Mulhuddart Sport Taekwon-Do Club held its 2007 Summer grading on Saturday 16th June. In total 42 candidates were successfully promoted, including; 12 people to 9th Kup (Yellow Tag), 16 people to 8th Kup (Yellow Belt), 13 people to 7th Kup (Green Tag). Special congratulations to Ms. Laura Daly who was promoted to 1st Kup (Black Tag). Each candidate will receive a feedback sheet which details the score achieved against the ITA syllabus and suggested areas for improvement. |
2007 ITA Dublin Open Championships was an excellent event with almost 400 competitors taking part in Pattern and Sparring events. Computer scheduling on six fully matted rings which operated all day resulted in the event finishing at 5.30pm. Mulhuddart Sport Taekwon-Do Club was represented by 37 competitors, 4 umpires and of course 2 coaches. The club finished in joint second place on 72 points with Ratoath Taekwon-Do Club taking top honours on 94 points. |
Mulhuddart Sport Taekwon-Do Club was featured with an article and photograph in the latest issue of Community Voice Newspaper which is distributed to 30,000 homes in Dublin 15. The report focused on the positive contribution that Mulhuddart Sport Taekwon-Do Club makes to the local community. The club has become a real focal point in the community and this can be seen by its membership which is now approaching 100 students. The article also highlights the club's competitive pedigree noting that Mulhuddart placed 4th in Ireland at the ITA Midwest Championships in Shannon on 29th April 2007. |
ITA Midwest Championships was a great success for the Mulhuddart Team. The club finished in 4th place overall with a total of 36 points. In ITF tournaments clubs are awarded 3 points for each Gold, 2 points for each Silver and 1 point for each Bronze medal. Mulhuddart Sport Taekwon-Do Club was represented by 34 competitors at the Eastern Region Challenge Match in Rivervalley, Swords on Friday 9th March 2007. The Mulhuddart competitors made a big impression with their skill level and showed great spirit in some highly competitive bouts against competitors from Donabate, Ratoath and Rivervalley. The match was a warm up for the Mulhuddart competitors in preparation for the ITA Midwestern Championships which will take place in Shannon on the 29th April 2007. Sir and Miss were very proud of the performance of the Mulhuddart team and would like to thank the large number of supporters who travelled to Swords for the match. |
2007 is off to a flying start at Mulhuddart Sport Taekwon-Do Club with students training hard for upcoming championships and challenge matches. What a great end to 2006 at Mulhuddart Sport Taekwon-Do Club. On Wednesday 20th December 34 people presented for KUP testing conducted by Mr. Stephen Cooley, Vice President of Irish Taekwon-Do Association. I am delighted to announce that everyone was successful. The club now has 17 new 9th KUP - Yellow Tag students and 17 new 8th KUP - Yellow Belt students. Congratulations to everyone, all the hard work and training paid off! |
Congratulations to Ms. McCutcheon who took SILVER in the British Championships on the 2nd December 2006. Ms. McCutcheon won two fights to qualify for the final, but narrowly lost out on GOLD against Michelle Redmond from Scotland. |
Here are some photographs taken during the junior class at the beginning of December 2006. Students at Mulhuddart Sport Taekwon-Do Club are currently preparing for a grading where some of the students who commenced training during the summer will have the chance to test for 9th Kup (Yellow Tag). Also after seven months of hard training some of our Yellow Tag students who last graded on the 31st May will have the chance to test for Yellow Belt (8th Kup). Irish Cup International was a big success attracting 328 competitors to UL Arena, Limerick on 11th and 12th November 2006. Mulhuddart students won 2 Gold, 4 Silver and 6 Bronze medals and the club finished in 8th position overall, which is a good result at the club’s first major championships. ITF Taekwon-Do World Cup, ran from 27th-29th October 2006 in Benidorm, Spain and was the largest ever championships in the history of the ITF with over 850 competitors participating from all over the world. Irish Taekwon-Do Association (ITA) lived up to its slogan “The Future of ITF Taekwon-Do in Ireland” bringing home 32 medals including;8 Gold, 6 Silver and 18 Bronze, reaching the podium in every discipline, in both individual and team events. Best Club/Association Irish Taekwon-Do Association (ITA Ireland Team) placed 4th out of 87 clubs/associations Best Black Belt Competitors Ireland's Blackbelts placed 3rd overall in World Cup Best Country Ireland placed as 5th Best Country in the World Cup These results follow on from the ITA Ireland Team's success in the 2005 European Cup, where we placed as 2nd best club/association in Europe overall. The Mulhuddart Team put in some great performances in the Rivervalley Challenge Match, winning 2 GOLD and 2 SILVER medals. In the junior mixed team match against Ratoath it was a very close match ending with a final score 5-4 to Ratoath. In the junior female match against Ratoath the score was a clear 3-0 to Mulhuddart. Well done to our senior competitor, Stuart Kelly who won a GOLD and a SILVER. The main event was the challenge between the Senior Eastern Region and Southern Region teams. First up the Southern Region Female Team fought the Eastern Region Female Team and took GOLD with a score of 2-1. Next up were some very memorable bouts in a match that saw the Eastern Region Male Team taking a convincing GOLD against the Southern Region Male Team. See Photos |
Mulhuddart Sport Taekwon-Do Club has a foundation Taekwon-Do programme called Little Champs. The programme is designed to introduce children from 6 years of age to ITF Taekwon-Do training. The main objectives of the Little Champs programme are to increase concentration, confidence, strength, balance, coordination, flexibility, aerobic fitness in a fun and enjoyable environment. July was a superb month for the club with the arrival of our Top Ten 10x10 Taekwon-Do competition area from Germany provided by our new official club sponsor MCR Building Services Ltd. July also saw the very successful student sponsorship drive which has provided Top Pro sparring safety equipment for every club member, well done to everyone for your hard work! Mulhuddart Sport Taekwon-Do Club has some guests training with us from June-September 2006 from MKS Lewart Lubartow in Poland, the best Taekwon-Do Club in Europe 2005. We are delighted to welcome Monika Olek, Tomek Olek and Marcin Wronowski to the club. Monika is 2005 World Silver Medallist in Sparring, Marcin is 2006 European Champion in 1st Dan Pattern and Tomek was a member of the Lewart 2005 European Cup Winning Team. Also training is Marcin Oworuszko, European Cup Champion -71kg Sparring who joined the club on 14th June 2006. Monika, Marcin, Tomek and Marcin are students of Mr. Jerzy Jedut VI Dan and Mr. Jaroslaw Suska V Dan. |
Here is a preview of the new ITA professional media photographs. The photographs feature top Irish competitors from all over Ireland and were taken by Irish graphic designer and photographer Dave Ryan in June 2006. The photographs will be used to promote ITF Taekwon-Do all over Ireland by the ITA and feature in the new look ITA website which was recently launched. Master Wim Bos VIII Dan visited Ireland from 16th - 18th June to conduct an Umpire Course and Technical Seminars. It was a fantastic weekend and a great opportunity to train with one of the great ITF Masters. The course was also attended by Mr. Mark Hutton VI Dan from Scotland who is the Technical Advisor and External Examiner for the Irish Taekwon-Do Association. From Mulhuddart Taekwon-Do the course was attended by; Mr. O'Donoghue, Mr. Oworuszko, Ms. McCutcheon, Liz Gildea and Stuart Kelly. This was the first major activity since the merger and was a very good environment for people from all over Ireland to train together and get to know one another. The course also attracted some local media and will be covered in some newspapers this week. |
11 people from Ireland travelled to Slovenia to train at Sport Camp Barada from 9th-11th June. The camp was an intensive three days with training in Taekwon-Do, Kickboxing, Boxing, Cage Fighting, Tae Bo and BianBox. The camp was organised by Tomaz Barada from Slovenia, 3 times ITF World Champion, 6 times ITF European Champion, 3 times King of Taekwon-Do, 5 times European Kickboxing Champion, 6 times Kickboxing World Champion. Mulhuddart Sport Taekwon-Do Club is pleased to welcome Marcin Oworuszko as a full member of the club from 14th June 2006. Marcin first visited Dublin as a member of the MKS Lewart Lubartow Team which competed in the Taekwon-Do Match in Donabate in January 2006. Marcin returned for a week in March and then decided to make the permanent move to Ireland. Marcin has a very good technical and sporting level in ITF Taekwon-Do, most notably winning GOLD -71kg sparring in the 2005 European Cup in England. We are delighted to welcome him to Ireland. |
We are very pleased to announce that 27 students successfully tested for 9th Kup (yellow tag) on Wednesday 31st May 2006 at Mulhuddart Sport Taekwon-Do Club. The grading was conducted by Mr. Stephen Cooley V Dan, Vice President of the Irish Taekwon-Do Association. 19 students from the junior class and 8 from the senior class were put through their paces by Mr. Cooley during the grading which lasted almost 2 hours. Congratulations to everyone who passed and special congratulations to Christie Popa and Gemma Weir who received the grading awards for best male and best female performance respectively. 14 Irish competitors participated in the Open Challenge Cup in Belgium on 28th May 2006. There were clubs from 6 countries competing; Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, Ireland, Portugal and Moldova. It was a big success for the Irish Taekwon-Do Association bringing home 19 medals; 3 GOLD, 8 SILVER and 8 BRONZE. The team members were; Conor Cooley, Shona Dowd, Keith Cooley, Karl Hynes, Seamus Lehane, Karl Maxwell, Shane Kearns, Niall Cleary, Alan McQuillian, Gareth McGrath and Hayden Devoy. The trip was led by Mr. Cooley, Mr. O'Donoghue and Mr. Kelly. |

There are some new photographs which were taken during training on Saturday 22nd April uploaded to the website. The photographs illustrate the excellent progress which has been made by the students since we started training in February. The photographs show students practicing Saju Jirugi and leg strengthening exercises for Dwit Cha Jirugi, Yop Cha Jirugi and Dollyo Chagi.

Mulhuddart Sport Taekwon-Do Club was represented at the Viking Cup in Sweden by Mr. O'Donoghue and Ms. McCutcheon. The championship included over 400 of the top ITF competitors from Belgium, Canada, Czech Republic, Finland, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Norway, Poland, Russia, Scotland, Sweden and Ukraine. The ITF World Championships ran from 28th-31st July 2005 in Dortmund, Germany. The national squad which comprised 16 competitors, brought home an impressive haul of five medals; one GOLD two SILVER and two BRONZE. There were two World Championship medals brought home to Mulhuddart Sport Taekwon-Do Club; Mr. O'Donoghue was a member of the Irish National Team who took the SILVER medal in the Team Pattern event. The 2005 European Championship took place between the 22nd–24th April 2005 in Terracina, Italy. The event ran over three days with Ireland taking seven medals; one GOLD, three SILVER and three BRONZE. A European Silver medal was brought home to Mulhuddart Taekwon-Do Club with Mr. O'Donoghue defeating competitors from France, Italy and England in the III Dan Patterns category. In the final Mr. O'Donoghue narrowly lost to Mariusz Walach from Poland. Mr. O'Donoghue's European SILVER medal is Ireland's best ever result in III Dan patterns at a European Championships, improving on previous BRONZE medals won in the same category in 2004 and 2001. The Mulhuddart Taekwon-Do Club instructors participated in the 2006 Polish Taekwon-Do Winter Training Camp, organised by MKS Lewart Lubartow and Lublin Sport Taekwon-Do Club in Wisła, Poland from 30th January to 4th February. The camp was led by Mr. Tadeusz Łoboda VI Dan and Mr. Jerzy Jedut VI Dan from Poland. Mr. Łoboda is President of the All Europe Taekwon-Do Federation (AETF). Mr. Jedut is recognised as one of the leading Taekwon-Do Coaches in the world having trained many European and World Champions. Mr Jedut is Secretary General of the AETF and Technical Director to the Polish Taekwon-Do Association (PTA). Read more... |
